Spam Messages From Hungama Mobile + Airtel

From: 4646 ( http://202.87.41.147/hungamawap/airtel/1826/zone.php3 ), hence Hungama Mobile and/or Airtel
Frequency: Daily (almost)

So here's the deal: I've been on Airtel's Do Not Spam list for almost a year now. Strangely, around the second week of May, I started getting SMS WAP pushes (links similar to that mentioned above) from the short code 4646.

I've called up the Airtel Call Center 6 times now to request that these messages be blocked. Also have SMS'ed NO to 170, as directed. So far, no success.

Next step: will mail Hungama Mobile directly.

CitiBank : Spam Emails

CitiBank sent me a Welcome email, calling me a customer, and informing that I've been registered to one their services.

Totally unsolicited! and I am not a CitiBank customer. (I had a citibank card long long long long ago, I guess it must've been 4 years at least, since i stopped using that card. I remember not renewing that card when it got expired.)

1st Email from Citi:
Date: Sat, 5 May 2007 08:04:41 -0500 (GMT-05:00)
From: CitiAlert.India@citicorp.com
Subject: CitiAlert - Welcome Email for Cards

The email also mentioned the following:
"If you do not wish to avail of this service you may logon to www.citibank.com/india or
write in to
indiaservice@citicorp.com and we will deregister you promptly."

So I send an email to Citibank asking them to unsubscribe me from any kind of mails.

My Response:
From: amit
Sent: Thursday, May 24 2007 11:01PM
To: citialert.india1@citicorp.com [citialert.india1@citicorp.com];
indiaservice@citicorp.com [indiaservice@citicorp.com]
Subject: Do not call / mail

In return CitiBank sends me 4 more e-mails, telling me that they are looking into my query. These mails were sent on following date/times:
Date: Fri, 25 May 2007 23:02:29 +0530
Date: Fri, 25 May 2007 23:02:29 +0530
Date: Mon, 28 May 2007 23:04:23 +0530
Date: Mon, 28 May 2007 23:34:01 +0530

A Detailed post in up here.

Update (01 Jun 2007): CitiBank finally seems to be taking some action. I got another mail from them (on Wed, 30 May 2007 18:12:41 +0530), this time telling me that they'll action my request (it might take upto 30 days to do so!) and put my name in Do not call register.

At last!

Spam Call From HDFC Bank Representative

Number: 1206626001 (at least, that's the number displayed on my cell phone)
Company: HDFC Bank
Time: 11:09AM
Product: Loans
Representative: Aditya (Executive) and Aditya (Manager)

Where did you get my number from?
Aditya (executive) says - got it from the CRM.
(I asked him to connect me to the manager.)
Aditya (manager) says - got the number from the company (HDFC). The company buys a database from other companies. Yes, we're aware of the Supreme Court orders, and about "each and every thing".

I haven't given my number, or asked for a loan, so why are you calling me up?
We're sales executives so it's our job to call.
(I tell him, I don't give a f**k. This is a spam call, and unsolicited. He tells me to mind my language, and this call is being recorded. I tell him, I don't give a f**k. Ridiculous how they justify spam calls)

Update:
Aditya (manager) called up at 9pm, again, on my cellphone. He called from +919818590297, and first reproached me for being abusive, earlier in the morning. I told him he had no business cold-calling me. After some discussion, I told him I don't have the time for this, and then he got abusive. I cut the line...

Maurya comes calling (unsolicited)

.. and Twice!!

1st Call -

From: ITC Welcome Group
Number: 011-26178463
Date: 8/1/2007
Time: 10:09 am
Despite 10:00 am on a monday being a very wrong time for such calls, I patiently listened to the lady, who was trying to sell me the membership of Maurya Sheraton/Welcome group of hotels n restaurants, and told her politely that I'd get back to her in case I wanted to take membership. I was asked for contact numbers of my friends, to which I denied.

2nd Call -

From: ITC Welcome Group
Number: 011-26177942
Date: 8/1/2007
Time: 2:42 pm
Another lady, starts trying to sell me the same membership all over again. On being told that I have already been contacted by one of her colleagues, she sounds suspecious, and quizzes me about when and who called me, and then asks me if I have accepted to the membership. When I told that I have decided not to take the membership, she gets agressive and starts trying to prove how wrong my decision was. I am forced to terminate the call by saying "When i say No, it means NO."

being polite doesn't help! :-

Another Spam Call from ABN-AMRO Bank; From +911145082670

From ABN-AMRO Bank

Date: 6/1/2007
Time: 10:59 am
Phone Number: +911145082670
Call from: Akash

This is the third call from ABN-AMRO in a month. I've been told each time that I'm being put on their Do-not-call list.

Action taken: Have filled out this form for their Do-Not-Call service, and emailed cardservices@in.abnamro.com

The message after submitting the form: "Please allow us 30 days from the date of registration to action the same." So, more spam from them this month, I guess.
